Waterloo. June 18, 1815: The Emperor's Final Ride

On Thursday, June 18, 2015, at 6:00pm in Room 105 of the James Brown Center on the campus of Dalton State College, the Bandy Heritage Center will host Dr. Tom Veve, Professor of History at Dalton State College, who will present "Waterloo, June 18, 1815: The Emperor's Final Ride." To mark the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo-- a single day of combat that changed the course of modern European history-- Dr. Veve will review the events that that brought together the armies of Napoleon Bonaparte and the Duke of Wellington to this Belgian villiage and of the carnage that ensued. Dr. Veve will also discuss the role played by the forces of Prussian Field Marshall Blucher, Napoleon's lost opportunities at Ligny and Quatre Bras in the days prior to Waterloo, and the quality of Napoleon's lieutenants.
