The Bandy Center's lectures and symposiums serve the dual purposes of bringing the classroom to the community and integrating the community more closely with the Center's mission to promote and celebrate the region's history and culture. Past programs and annual events include the Civil War in the Western Theater Colloquium, the Dixie Bradley Bandy Memorial Lecture on Women in Georgia, the "Who Am I: Introduction to Geneaology" series, Dio de los Muerto Latino Culture and Art symposium, "Touch the Earth: Cherokee Religion and Culture," "Gateway to the South: A Centennial Celebration of the Dixie Highway," and living history programs on the weapons of the War of 1812, World War I, World War II, and the Vietnam War.
