"Gateway to the South: Remembering the Dixie Highway" on display at the Smyrna Public Library

September 14, 2016

The Bandy Heritage Center's traveling exhibit Gateway to the South: Remembering the Dixie Highway is now on display at the Smyrna Public Library located at 100 Village Green Circle SE in Smyrna, Georgia. The Dixie Highway--actually a network of individual state highways--was the main route for tourists from the Midwest to the Florida beaches during the early decades of the twentieth century, and helped connect the South more deeply to the greater prosperity of the nation.  Gateway to the South utilizes period photographs and images to illustrate topics such as tourism, advertising, and businesses along the route. The exhibit will be on display until October 13, 2016.
