July 13, 2016

The Bandy Center's traveling exhibit Gateway to the South:Remembering the Dixie Highway is now on display in the McRitchie-Hollis Museum at the Newnan/Coweta County Historical Society. The museum is located at 74 Jackson Street in Newnan, Georgia. The Dixie Highway--actualy a network of individual state highways--was the main route for tourists from the Midwest to the Florida beaches during the early decades of the twentieth century, and helped connect the South more deeply to the greater prosperity of the nation.  Gateway to the South utilizes period photographs and images to illustrate topics such as tourism, advertising, and businesses along the route. The exhibit will be on display until September 1, 2016.
