Bandy Heritage Center to host program on "Stonewall in the Valley"

October 17, 2016

On Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm in Room 105 of the James E. Brown Center on the campus of Dalton State College, the Bandy Heritage Center will host a program by Dalton State College Professor of History Thomas D. Veve, Ph.D., on “Stonewall in the Valley.”

The campaign conducted by Confederate Major General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia in the spring of 1862 is considered one of the most brilliant in United States military history. Vastly outnumbered, and at times facing three Union armies, Jackson managed to march his Army of the Valley hundreds of miles and fight a series of engagements in a masterpiece of military skill that created a grand diversion preventing thousands of Union troops from threatening Richmond. Dr. Veve will tell the story of the campaign and of the remarkable man who planned and directed it.

The lecture is free and open to the public. No reservations are required.
