Bandy Heritage Center

Integral to the Bandy Heritage Center's mission is community outreach. Through informative and interesting events, lectures, and programs, the Bandy Center promotes the celebration and preservation of Northwest Georgia's rich history and culture.

Past programs/annual events include the Civil War in the Western Theater Colloquium, the Dixie Highway Symposium, the Dicksie Bradley Bandy Memorial Lecture on Women in Georgia, and Taste of the Sweet South.

School Programs

The Bandy Heritage Center always welcomes school groups wishing to tour its exhibits at the Derrell C. Roberts Library on the campus of Dalton State College or the Old Freight Depot Gallery in downtown Dalton Georgia. However, if a visit is not feasible, the Center can develop programs on Northwest Georgia’s history and culture that can come to the classroom.

Educator Programs

Fundamental to the Bandy Heritage Center for Northwest Georgia’s mission is collaboration with local schools. To aide that goal the Center provides lesson plans covering a diverse array of topics on the history and culture of Northwest Georgia. Future projects will include travel trunks designed to bring students a “hands-on” museum experience within the classroom.
